The incident took place around 12:20 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 4, at Greenwich High School when Greenwich Police were dispatched to the school after a student saw a message on a wall, according to authorities.

The message concerned the student since it made reference to a weapon. The student immediately contacted a teacher and police were called to respond to the school to investigate, said Greenwich PD Captain Mark Zuccerella.

The School Resource Officer and School administrators rapidly assessed the situation and identified the responsible student before all the officers were on the scene, he added.

At no time was the building placed in lockdown.

"The marked patrol units that responded to the Greenwich High School was done out of an abundance of caution," Zuccerella said. "At no time were other students or staff in any danger."

He also thanked the student for "their quick action in reporting" the message.

"See something, say something" is not just a saying, Zuccerella added.

The incident is being investigated by the Special Victim Section.
